Design-Create Services - IT Services
IT is an area that can be quite complicated in an exhibit which is to be used by the public. At first glance it can seem simple, but far too many exhibits are lacking the basics. A number of services we can offer are:

1. Protecting and backing up computers (on-site or remotely).
2. Updating / Monitoring / Maintaining software remotely.
3. Allowing multiple levels of staff access.
4. Not allowing users of an exhibit to gain control of the computer.
5. Ensuring IT equipment shuts down and starts up every day at the right time and in a safe manner.

FifeX builds its own computers and provides all its own IT equipment unless it is not required. Specifically, we work regularly with small form factor computers such as Mini ITX PCs- these keep the amount of real estate required down to a minimum. When setting up comptuers, they are optimised for performance, which allows them run on less power, generate less heat but still perform to the same standard.

We can also advise on/provide other miscellaneous pieces of kit such as wireless peripherals to control computers that are buried inside a product. We also have experience working with some other weird and wonderful pieces of IT hardware, such as coin mechanisms, trackballs, industrial keyboards, cameras, webcams.... etc. At FifeX, we love computers!
