What Ahab Never Saw,
The Life Of Diving Mammals

Sea Mammal Research Unit, University of St Andrews

The Life of Diving Mammals was FifeX's third interactive exhibition for the hugely prestigious 'Royal Society Summer Exhibition' in 2005.

The exhibition comprises information on a number of areas of research into diving mammals and includes some fun interactive exhibits and activities.

The custom designed back panels include the latest in media player technology allowing for four movies to play continuously in addition to the main screen.

A full size model whale hangs above the whole display and moving lights give a distinctly 'marine' feeling to the exhibition.

Interactives allow visitors to compare their voices to whale communication sounds and look at some cutting edge methods for tagging marine mammals without harming them. In addition, FifeX's Cartesian Diver stands at over 1m in height with lifelike models of blue whales as the 'divers'.

Since the initial outing, the exhibition has appeared at numerous venues including Buckingham Palace, the Centre for Life (Newcastle) and Cheltenham Science Festival. For further information, contact FifeX
