Is Magnetism Attractive FifeX's third science show was produced in 2006 by the team at FifeX, led by David Heron.
The show is designed in a 'talkshop' format where visitors
are encouraged to participate and ask questions to the presenter as
they go along. Although having a rough outline of how the show will
go and a good selection of interactive exhibit demos, the actual discussion
depends very much on the audience.
The subject area was chosen specifically and presented a challenge to the team at FifeX.....
Much of the time we are made to
feel that in order to enthuse people about science, we need to use bangs,
flashes, lots of light and whacky experiments, so we wanted to try talking
about a fundamental area of physics and just let the science do the
talking - discussing magnetism in the talkshop format worked extremely
well. David Heron, Science Outreach, FifeX
The show was premiered in South Africa, and an excellent presentation accompanied by simple but effective demos, made it a real success.
FifeX would like to thank ADT and MagLoc for their support in providing magnets for the show.
