Stem Cells for Blood Transfusion This exciting exhibition was developed for the Royal Society Summer Exhibition 2010. FifeX worked with the team to develop an exhibition which discusses stem cells and their potential for use in future medicine. The project team had very specific ideas about what information they wanted to communicate and they had ideas for unique exhibits and exhibition material. FifeX started working on the exhibition at the initial planning stages and contributed exhibit design and manufacture, project management and installation support to the project team. The exhibition website has contact details for the team, and you can find out at what festivals and events it will be on show. The exhibition is based on a £2,9M Wellcome Trust funded collaborative research project ‘Proof of principle: human embryonic stem cell derived red cell concentrates for clinical transfusion’. In this project scientists are working together to generate a limitless and infection-free supply of red blood cells in the laboratory from human embryonic stem cells for use in clinical blood transfusion. This project started in 2009 and will run up to 2012. We have more detail about 3 of the exhibits that were produced for this exhibition:
