Memory Bank Over time, the build up of memories should provide a fantastic resource as people record two-minute clips about their favourite events, places and people. Already, the exhibit has some great memories from the last 40 years, and this will increase as more people visit the museum. The software allows users to record messages as text, or as audio and to leave a photo or use an avatar character if they prefer to keep their identity hidden. The exhibit has its own induction loop and is designed with accessibility in mind. After the message is recorded, it sits in a queue waiting to be reviewed by staff before being allowed to go live on the software. The software is housed inside a large booth, designed to fit in with the gallery decor. The booth has been a massive hit with visitors not wanting to leave it! Bright blue LEDs highlight etched out speech bubbles which make it stand out from the crowd! It also plays a few videos including some 'never-seen-before' footage of St Andrews. This item was made as part of a project for The
University of the Museum of St Andrews (MUSA). The museum opened
in Autumn 2008 and is open to the public, but has planned events for
various groups and schools.
