White LED Source
FifeX's third school product, released in 2006, is the FifeX White LED
Source.
The White LED Source (WLS) is a new alternative to the traditional
raybox. It replaces conventional light sources (and lasers) and can
be used in most experiments in place of a raybox, offering a number
of unique advantages.
- Much purer white light
- Light is much more uniform in intensity
- The rays have a longer working length
- No additional power supply required (5V plug top included)
- Uses less power
- This is a cold source, so no more worries of classroom burns!
- LED has much longer life
- Can be mounted on a retort stand using the incorporated boss
- Can be housed on an optics bench in a standard carriage
- Experimental Guide suggesting experiments that can be performed
- Allows for the demonstration of Newton's Experimentum Crucis
