NWEET Energy Bike

NWEET Energy Bike

We can Reduce and Save

Timeline: 2 months

Client: Northamptonshire County Council

Value: £4k

Aim: To produce and deliver a bike that could be a semi-permanent display. The bike should allow people to power three devices and should not require power itself.

What we did: We get asked to make quite a few energy bikes these days but this one was a little bit different. The client wanted the bike to be completely independent of power and for the devices to only be powered by the energy people could generate - so no batteries, no approximations, just straight power! The bike works using an alternator and a training stand - the bike is a real bike and nothing is hidden away from view. Users can power a radio, a fan or a small heater and you can guess which is the hardest! The bike sits on its own plinth which has hand holes for moving if required.
